My grandpa decided to order a whole roasted suckling pig, in addition to the roast duck and marinated squid. Vegetarians, look away now (sorry Ange, that means you, too).

It's not the clearest picture, but here it is.
Check out the crackling!!
My uncle slicing up the squid.
A close up of a slice of crackling from the roasted suckling pig.
Now, we had the basic dishes: two different plates of fried egg noodles, stir fried snow peas with carrots, chicken and shrimp, stir fried broccoli with chicken and carrots, stir fried shiitake mushrooms and abalone. Of course, I can't forget the hot pot and large communal bowl of rice. Check out some other dishes that we've had in the past here, and here.
We had fried taro with a coat of sugar for dessert, that my mom made earlier in the morning, and a plate of fruits (which included grapes, apples and oranges.
You can't have a moon festival without moon cake and tea, can you? No you can't. We had two different kinds this time.
Happy Moon Festival everyone!
Hey Christine - What a lovely pig! It makes me want to lick my screen! ;o)
ReplyDeleteAww poor piggie. There are videos of each of the cousins as babies screaming in fear and crying at the sight of the whole roasted pig at family events. Fortunately, the family has found a butcher who will now cut it up in advance...except there is still a giant pig head in the middle of cut up pork :(
ReplyDeleteThat is so unfair... I leave and then he decides to buy a whole pig after refusing to buy it because he didn't like it.... I'm disgusted and vastly disappointed...
